Pair of 19th c. Carved Gessoed Wooden Angels
Pair of 19th century carved and gessoed wooden putti, angels, or cherubs. Each with gilt wings and cloth decoration.
Provenance: From the Estate of Horst Rechelbacher, Osceola, Wisconsin.
Horst Rechelbacher, the founder of Aveda and Intelligent Nutrients, was a pioneer in the field of safe and eco-friendly cosmetics. The same curiosity that led him to explore ways to improve the beauty industry led him to travel the world, collecting rare and beautiful objects as he went.
Angel looking forward; height: 14 1/2 in x width: 11 1/2 in x depth: 6 in. Angel looking away; height: 15 1/4 in x width: 11 1/2 in x depth: 9 1/4 in.
Condition: Each angel with heavy paint losses throughout. Dirt and dust collected to the surface and recessed areas. The paint color has faded.
