The Hebrew University of Jerusalem was the first to be established in the Land of Israel. The official opening ceremony took place in Nisan 1925, April 1, 1925, in the amphitheater on Mount Scopus. To mark the forty-year anniversary of the Hebrew University, a special medal was minted to be awarded to university personnel and distinguished guests.
