Hebrew Classics: Sefer Bedek Habayis, Venice 1606. Bound With Two Additional 16th Century Works
A beautiful copy of Sefer Bedek Habayis – the classic work of Maran R. Yosef Karo, author of Beis Yosef. This work contains supplements and corrections to Beis Yosef, and was first printed in Salonica just several months earlier, in 1605.
Also bound together with this work are two additional works printed in the 16th century, as follows:
Sefer Toaliyos HaRalbag, Riva Di Trento 1560. First Edition. This work is a compilation of the Ralbag’s ethical lessons and morals culled from his commentary, and is arranged according to Torah and Nevi’im. A very interesting and unique work. A handwritten annotation from the period of the printing is seen on pp. 33.
Sefer Revi’i – The Fourth Volume of Teshuvos Mahari Ibn Lev, Venice 1606. This work contains novella and responsa authored by R. Yosef Ibn Lev, who was one of the leading Torah sages during the time of The Beis Yosef.
The personal copies of
R. Yaakov Shamesh of Frankfurt (d. 1785), who was one of Frankfurt’s leading Torah scholars in the late 18th century. R. Moshe Sofer – The Chasam Sofer, was one of his disciples while learning in Frankfurt.
His personal autograph is seen on the title page of Sefer Toaliyos HaRalbag, who attests that he purchased this volume in 1747.
All volumes are in very good condition, with original painted edges in red and green.
