Indian All-Steel Battle Axe, 19th C.
Persian or Indian steel battle axe, 19th century, with an engraved face in the typical crescent moon shape. Engraving in floral and traditional patterns with the rear axe head in the agape elephant mouth style, four sided spike to the center. Most curiously the shaft carved or inlaid and covered in a circular pattern throughout possibly wootz or acid etching to be revealed in careful restoration. Size 30 1/4" L
