Koftgari Inlaid Indo-Persian Dagger
Indo-Persian dagger with gold inlaid decoration in the koftgari fashion with a traditional shaped handle richly decorated in scrolling patters, floral motifs, and two fish meeting on the top of the pommel. Blade a long slightly recurved form with double edge. The top of the blade with a flat back for three quarters of the length until it meets a gold inlaid flat hook. Richly chiseled ricasso with elephants and riders beside opposing tigers. Mid section with two white fuller between and beside fluted carving, inner section of fuller with decoration. Forward section of the blade with another panel of gold decoration and diamond shaped tip. Some variation in the color of the steel which is probably tempered or quenched steel. Size 19 1/2" overall, blade 15 1/4" L
Condition: Very good with some wear to gold decoration of handle or light cleaning
