Novaelle on the Talmud by Rabbi Yaakov Yehoshua Falk author of the "Pnei Yehoshua".
*[Part One] on tractates Brachot, Shabbat, Pesachim, Beitza, Rosh Hashana, Succah, Megillah and a few novaelle on tractate Yomah. Frankfurt am Main, 1752. [2], 52; 66; 50; 37[should be:36]; 29; 26; 31 [should be:12] pages. With the first partial title page. First Edition.
With various inscriptions stating that this sefer belongs to R' Shimon Babad Rav of Tarnapol.
R' Shimon Babad (1839-1909) was a son of R. Yosef Babad (Minchas Chinuch). Known as an outstanding Talmid Chochom he succeeded his father as Rav of Taranpol. He was involved in the publication of the Minchas Chinuch and wrote the introduction as well as numerous glosses which were printed alongside the sefer.

Rabbi Yaakov Yehoshua Falk (Yehoshua Falk (1681-1756), disciple of the Chacham Tzvi. Rabbi of Lvov, Berlin, Metz and Frankfurt.
First edition of the famous novaelle of one of the greatest commentators on the Talmud, Rashi and Tosefot. Chiddushei Pnei Yehoshua have subsequently been printed in many editions, and they are learnt in study houses throughout the Jewish Diaspora, from then until the present day. The author published his novaelle in his lifetime, first part two, Amsterdam 1739, later Part one, Amsterdam 1852, and part three Frankfurt am Main, 1756. The author began the publishing until he died and his son continued, as is printed on the title page.
In Part One is the famous partial title page, in which is written the author's desire to immigrate to Israel.
Size: 32 cm (with cover).
Condition: Very good condition, stains.
