Josephine states ` Mr. de Villeneuve m´a remis votre aimable lettre mon cher aimé, vous connaissez mon désir de vous obliger, et ce désir s´étend sur tout ce qui intéresse votre famille et surtout votre aimable mere, pour laquelle mon estime est sans bornes. Dites-lui bien, je vous prie, combien je suis désolée que sa migraine m´ait privée du plaisir de la voir, je n´ai jamais pu supporter la pensé de l´embarrasser dans un moment de douleur; j´espère mon cher aimé que vous avez vu le plaisir que j´ai eu de vous avoir a la malmaison et que vous désirerez y revenir…´, (“Mr. de Villeneuve has given me your kind letter my very dear, you know my desire to oblige you, and this desire extends to all related to your family and especially your dear mother whom I very greatly esteem. Tell her please how sorry I am…in such a painful moment. I hope my dear friend that you noticed the pleasure I had in having you at Malmaison and that you will wish to come again.´ A good and desirable rare letter in the Empress´ hand. The letter has been professionally and lightly affixed to a larger card, allowing the view of the blank verso. Very small minor staining, mostly to the bottom border, not affecting the text or signature. G to VG
