MELTZER, ISSER ZALMAN
(Rabbi of Slutzk, Rosh Yeshivah Etz Chaim, Jerusalem. 1870-1953). Autograph Letter Signed, written in Hebrew on letterhead to Rabbi Meir Berlin (Bar-Ilan).

Written a month after the outbreak of WWII, R. Isser Zalman requests the assistance of Rabbi Yehoshua Tovia Kreiser of the Mifal Pidyon Shevuyim organization in Tel Aviv, seeking to rescue Jewish refugee children. The fine qualities of Rabbi Kreiser are noted, where he studied and the fact that he is the son of Rabbi David Dov Kreiser (1890-1931) of the Kletz Yeshiva.
Two punch-holes. One page. 4to.
Jerusalem: 2nd Mar-Cheshvan 1939

R. Meir Berlin (also Bar-Ilan, 1880-1949) was the youngest son of the Netzi’v of Volozhin. A student in some of the great European yeshivoth, he became a leader in the Mizrachi movement and was involved in many relief efforts on behalf of European Jewry.
