Siegmund Forst. Tens of signed and numbered woodcuts.
* Three woodcuts signed and numbered in pencil by the artist. The woodcuts are framed with a hook on the back - each one measures 22.5x31 cm. The frames measure 45x58.5 cm.
* Seven woodcuts signed and numbered by Siegmund Forst, various topics: Holocaust - Jewish family with flames in the background 55x75 cm.; Rabbi and disciples at the Shabbat table 40x25 cm.; Jonah in the fish; Rabbi studying by candlelight; dancing with the Torah; Mishenichnas Adar Marbin B'Simcha [colored] and more. Average size 30x38 cm. Two of the woodcuts are doubles.
Siegmund Forst was born in Vienna in 1904. He studied at the Art Academy in Vienna. In 1939, he emigrated to the United States where he designed fonts, illustrated children's books, made engravings and focused on Jewish motifs and holidays. Here are some of his creations [dated] from various years [60s-70s].
