ESMENARD JOSEPH-ALPHONSE: (1769-1811) French Poet. Member of the French Academy, Esménard is best-known for his didactic poem entitled La Navigation (''The Navigation''), 1805-06, based on his numerous travels to Martinique and Saint-Domingue. A.L.S., Esménard, one page, 8vo, n.p., 29th April [1806], to Giguet et Michaud editors, in French. Esménard refers to the second edition of his most popular work La Navigation, stating `I beg Mr Giguet & Michaud to supply to the bearer of the present note a copy of the poem The Navigation, (2nd edition), ….´ With integral address leaf. Extremely small creasing, mostly to the integral address leaf edge. VG £100-150
