Letter from Rabbi Chaim Ozer Grodzinski - "I have Sent his Letter to the Rebbe of Lubavitch in Riga"
Short letter with the handwritten signature of R. Chaim Ozer Grodzinski. Vilna, Sivan 1933. In the letter, he writes: "…I have no suggestions. I have sent his letter to the Rebbe of Lubavitch in Riga, perhaps he will find a source of salvation…". R. Chaim Ozer Grodzinski (1863-1940) was a foremost rabbi of his generation and leader of the entire European Jewry. At the age of 11, he entered the Volozhin yeshiva and became a disciple of R. Chaim of Brisk. At the age of 24, he was appointed rabbi and posek of Vilna. He assumed the yoke of public leadership from a young age, and his opinion was conclusive on all communal matters which arose in the Diaspora for close to fifty years. After WWI, he undertook together with the Chafetz Chaim to save the yeshivot from their difficult predicament, and they together founded the Vaad HaYeshivot. In that period, following the Communist takeover, he worked extensively together with the Rayatz of Lubavitch and the Chafetz Chaim to rescue Russian Jewry and Jews worldwide. Postcard. 14.5X10.5 cm. Good-fair condition. Stains and wear. Written by a scribe, apart from the concluding word and signature, which are handwritten by R. Chaim Ozer.
