One of the foremost sefarim on ethics, this is a third edition and the first publishing in the lands of Ashkenaz. Following this, the sefer was published many times over.
This sefer was erroneously attributed to the Rabbeinu Tam due to his Halachic composition titled Sefer HaYashar. Rabbi Menachem di Lunzano writes that the sefer was authored by Rabbi Zarchia the Greek and the Chid"a tended to accept his opinion.
