PIAF EDITH: (1915-1963) French Singer. An excellent and early A.L.S., Edith Piaf, two pages, 4to, Paris, 4th December 1940, to Monsieur Legrand Chabrier, in French. A young Edith Piaf sends a very kind letter to French journalist and critic Legrand, stating `I am really sorry that we did not see each other at the Folies-Belleville
these days I do not stop rushing all around Paris. I have read several of your articles published by ''Aujourd´hui'' and they have pleased me very very much. I have a surprise for you..´ and before concluding saying `As usual, your seat is booked for the premiere of L´A,B.C. and I do expect that the great critic will visit me at the Violette lodge to give her his personal opinion..´ Accompanied by the original envelope hand-addressed by Piaf, postmarked and post-stamped. Folded. Very small overall minor age wear, otherwise about VG £300-400 André Legrand Chabrier (1876-1949) French Critic, Journalist and Novelist.
