Brodskiy Isaac Izrailevich (1883, Sophievka village, Tavricheskaya Province – 1939, Leningrad).
Studied at Odessa Art School (1896-1902) under L.I. Iorini, K.K. Kostandi and G.A. Ladyzhenskiy. In 1902 entered Academy of Arts, where studied under P.S. Myasoedov, Y.F. Tsionglinskiy, and since 1903 – under I.E. Repin. Took an active part in exhibitions initiated by Academy of Arts, the Union of Russian Artists, the Union of Itinerant Art Exhibitions, “World of Art” Union, etc. In 1908 was awarded the title of artist granted by Academy of Arts for the picture the “Warm Day” and the portrait of L.M. Brodskaya. After the October revolution the historical and revolutionary themes became the key subjects in his creative work. The artist's works are kept in the State Tretyakov Gallery, the State Russian Museum, in the memorial flat of I.I. Brodskiy, in regional museums and in private collections.
