Sokolov-Skalia Pavel Petrovich (1899, Strelna - 1961, Moscow).
The People’s Artist of RSFSR (1956), the full member of the Academy of Arts of USSR (1949), the double laureate of the Stalin prize (1942, 1949)He studied at the studio by I.I. Mashkov (1914-1918), and since 1922 at his studio in the Artistic and Theatric Classes. One of the founders and a participant of group "Bytiye" (1921), a member of AHRРа (1924-1931), РАПХа (1931-1932). He leaded the Central Moscow Workshop of military and patriotic placard "Windows of TASS" (1941-1946). In 1954, he managed the operations on reconstruction of F.А. Rubo’s panorama "Defence of Sevastopol". Works by P.P. Sokolov-Skalia are kept in the Tretyakov State Gallery, the State Russian Museum other major museums, both locally and abroad
