Passover Haggada With the Explanation of the Gra. First Edition.

Beautiful Copy. A Rare and Important Hagadda.

Passover Haggada. Printed in Horodna. Yechezkel ben Moshe and Simcha Zimmel
Printers, 1805.
37 Pages. Extremely disordered page count. Great condition. Blue paper. Exquisite
leather binding.
Computerized Jewish Book Otzar: Item no. 70647.
Book Listing of the Gra: Item no. 509.
With the passing of HaGaon HaChassid Rabbi Eliyahu ben Shlomo Zalman, the Gra, there
remained many of his manuscripts that were unprinted, and unknown. These included entire
compositions as well as commentaries on books such as on Mishlei, the Book of Esther,
Yoreh Yoreh and numerous other manuscripts. The heads of the Bet Din, community leaders
and the Gra’s children met together to decide how and when to publish the Gra’s works. The
Passover Haggada was one of the first writings to be printed following the Gra’s demise. This
catalogue includes two other compositions that were of the first to be printed posthumously.
Due to the Jewish communities traditional heavy use of Haggadot, the first edition was quickly depleted. Already in 1807, a second edition was printed in Lemberg.

The Haggada was subsequently reprinted many more times.
It is most unusual to find this first edition Haggada in such excellent condition.
