Nevi’im Rishonim. The First Edition of 'Mikra’ot Gedolot'.
Venice 1525. Printed by the Daniel Bomberg Printing House.
[209] Pages. Size: 38 cm
Otzar Hasefer Database, #41329
Beautiful condition.
Exceptionally thick paper, with wide margins. Cover Page and Page 15 are slightly restored. Lovely, antique binding.
This book is a first edition of ‘Mikra’ot Gedolot’. Daniel Bomberg printed a number of editions of Tanach during the years of 1515 – 1525. A. M Haberman refers to these editions in his book ‘The Printer, Daniel Bomberg and a list of Books he Printed’. On page 56 Item No: 95 of this book Haberman writes: “All Tanach editions of the years 1515, 1521 and 1525 are printed in a uniform fashion, page after page...”
Refer to the lengthy introduction in Haberman’s abovementioned book for an account of Bomberg’s exact and particular work, especially with regard to the first editions of Tanach.
This book is a rare find with its regular paper as well as the empty divider page between the Nevi’im Rishonim and Nevi’im Acharonim.
