Ketzot HaChoshen by Rabbi Aryeh Leib ben Yosef Heller. First Edition.

Rabbi Yosef Caro’s book on the Shulchan Aruch is the most widely spread seminal work of Halacha throughout the Jewish world. This work is divided into 4 sections each one dealing with different Halachic topics. This division was originally made by The Rosh in his book HaTurim. Ketzot HaChoshen focuses on the fourth section of Choshen Mishpat, hence its name.

Rabbi Aryeh Leib ben Yosef Heller: born in Eastern Galicia. He was involved in disseminating Torah in Lvov, where Ketzot HaChoshen was published. Rabbi Heller also served as Rabbi in the village of Roznitov.
Rabbi Heller’s work, is known colloquially as ‘The Ketzos’ and rapidly morphed into a fundamental work on the laws of Choshen Mishpat.

In this classic work, Rabbi Heller uniquely combines logical explanations with deep and intense analyses. Rabbi Heller also authored in a similar style the book, ‘Avnei Miluim’ on the Even HaEzer section of Shulchan Aruch.
Volume 1: Lemberg 1786, with ‘Kuntres HaSfekot’ printed at the end. (This composition is clarifications on the book ‘Tokfo Kohen’ by Rabbi Shabtai Katz – author of Siftei Kohen). Kuntres HaSfekot was written by the author, Rabbi Yehuda Heller’s brother, and was involved in publishing the Ketzos.
