An emotive eulogy including praises of the deceased, ethical ideas, explanations on the verses and homilies of Chazal and more.
On the booklet’s first page it says: Eulogy of 7 Adar 5600, (1840). 7 Adar is known as the day Moshe Rabbeinu was born and passed away. Over the years, this date has been dedicated for Jewish Burial Societies. On this day they summarize the past year, pray special prayers, ask forgiveness from the deceased and hold a special meal for Burial Society Members.
Therefore, on this day, Rabbi Yisrael Lishitz spoke about the demise of Moshe Rabbeinu and eulogized the Chatam Sofer, whose name was also Moshe. The Chatam Sofer passed away 29 Tishrei, 5600.
At the top of each page is a heading in abbreviations: “BeHsh”Y gevnm”a”. This stands for: Be’ezrat Hashem Yitbarach. Gal einai ve’abita nifla’ot mitoratecha amen.”
