Manuscript – Unknown Pizmonim (Songs) for the Year’s Cycle. Italy, 18th Century.
Unique and spell-binding manuscript comprising over 100 pages, penned in beautiful, calligraphic script, on quality, thick regal paper. The Pizmonim are pertinent for Jewish calendar occasions as well as Jewish life events of Shabbat, Circumcision, Weddings etc.
The manuscript contains 103 Pizmonim that are not bibliographically recorded to our knowledge.
The Pizmon on leaf 45 commences: “I will surely remember your promise…”. Above this Pizmon appears the following words, penned in a second handwriting: “This is composed based on the song Zachor Ezkor authored by Moreinu Rabbi Chai Meriah D’Atrah HaDin”. This possibly refers to Rabbi Emanuel Chai Rikki, a prominent Italian Kabbalist and poet.
Near the end of the manuscript appear a few pages listing the manuscript’s content.
52 leaves [102 pages].
Excellent condition. Original binding.
