Siddur Avodat HaTamid (Sabbatian Background). Copy Belonging to Rabbi Ezra Attiah and Rabbi Avraham Aboud. Livorno, 1794. Single Edition. Sefer Yesod!
Prayer book for weekdays according to Sephardic custom, with laws, customs and Kabbalistic Kavanot. Also includes as a comprehensive commentary on the prayers by Kabbalist Rabbi Eliyahu Habillo of Sarajevo.

At the top of the page is the printed version of the prayers with punctuation. Below this appears the elucidations and laws in a different font. The book includes a lengthy preface in which the author narrates his background, and relates about Livorno’s Jews.

The book is graced with the approbations of Livorno’s Rabbis, including Rabbi David Pardo.

On leaf 83b the page has ‘Shiviti’ printed on it with the depiction of ‘Lamnatzeiach BiNeginot’ in the shape of the Menorah with the ‘Ten Sefirot’ and other verses.

The author quotes Nechemiah Chayun’s philosophy in his book, without realizing he was a Sabbatian. On the last page of his composition, the author apologizes for this and requests the reader to ignore the sections in which Chayun was quoted.

The title page as well as other pages of the book feature the handwritten signature and stamp of “Avraham Aboud Shamahs HaRashbi [!]”

On leaf 52 and the final leaf appears an additional signature of Rabbi Attiah. It is penned in curly Spanish script. This is either the signature of Rabbi Ezra Attiah (1885-1970), Rosh Yeshivat Porat Yosef, or of his grandfather and namesake.

Rabbi Avraham Aboud is the son of Rabbi Eliyahu Aboud, one of Aleppo’s great sages.

Rabbi Elisha Habillo was born in Sarajevo and was a close disciple of Rabbi David Pardo.
