Autograph Manuscript on Tractate Pesachim by Rabbi Yehoshua Zelig Bichler, Av Beit Din of Irshe, Grandson of the Mahari Asud. Irshe, 1894. Not printed.
Before us is a complete autograph composition, entirely written in the holy handwriting of Rabbi Yehoshua Zelig Bichler, Av Beit Din of Irshe, the grandson of Mahari Assad, and the son-in-law of Rabbi Aharon Bichler (Suditz), the rabbi of Yasberin, a student of the 'Ksav Sofer' and a student of his father-in-law Mahari Asud.
Rabbi Bichler also wrote a special and attractive title for the composition with large square letters. According to what is written on the title page, Rabbi Bichler began writing this composition on certain tractates in the Talmud while residing in the city of Irshe in the year 5654.
In this composition, the author mentions many things about his great-grandfather Mahari Asud, among other things that he heard directly from him. He also recalls many teachings from his father, the gaon Rabbi Aharon Bichler, and cites things he learned from him.
The son-in-law of Mahari Asud and the father of the author, the gaon Rabbi Aharon Bichler-Suditz [1840 – 1914]:
A student of the 'Ksav Sofer' and a student of his father-in-law Mahari Asud, in the year 5621, he was appointed as the rabbi of Jászberény, where he served for 54 years until his passing. His father, Rabbi David Bichler-Suditz, was the Av Beit Din of Pásztó. He corresponded extensively with Mahari Asud, and many of his responses and letters from his father-in-law have been preserved.
[See about him: Kinstlicher, Hachasam Sofer V'Talmidav, p. 478; Kinstlicher, Ishim B'Teshuvos Hachasam Sofer, p. 52; Rabbi Shlomo Yehuda Shpitzer's article, 'Ali Zichron, ' Vol. 7, pp. 17-19].
