Halachic Response in the Writings of the Gaon Rabbi Moshe Feinstein Regarding the Depth Measurement of the Grave, addressed to the Gaon Rabbi Shlomo Landau, Av Beit Din of Strabin. Signed by the Rav Feinstein.
Before us are 8 pages, all written in the holy handwriting of the great Gaon Rabbi Moshe Feinstein zt"l. The pages contain an interesting, lengthy, and profound halachic response, filled with expertise and analysis, on the matter of 'the depth measurement of the grave.'
On the first page, at the top, it is written "Siman 208," followed by an opening line stating that the words are directed to "my dear friend, the famous Gaon Rabbi Shlomo Landau, shlita, the Av Beit Din of Strabin."
The final page is signed "His friend, Moshe Feinstein".
The pages of the response are all written in clarity and density, and it is evident from the handwriting the profound scholarly thought of Rabbi Moshe Feinstein. On the last two pages, there are quite a few erasures and corrections, indicating that Rabbi Moshe Feinstein reviewed the material, juxtaposed and adjusted them side by side, and made an effort to edit the words correctly and accurately as is suitable for a halachic response.
Rabbi Shlomo Landau, Av Beit Din of Strabin: was the father-in-law of Rabbi Chaim Gronim Landau (1911-1997), the son-in-law of the Gaon Rabbi Zvi Pesach Frank, who was a prominent Eastern European rabbi, the head of Yeshivat "Beit Midrash Gavoah L'Torah" in Chicago, and the head of the Yeshivat HaDarom in Rehovot. He edited the writings of his father-in-law, Rabbi Zvi Pesach Frank, and served as the president of the Kollel "Har Tzvi" institution in Tel Aviv.
[8] leaves, written on one side, the other side is blank sheets of official paper from the writings of the Gaon Rabbi Moshe Feinstein. In good condition, with slight stains and tears at the edges.
Signed.
