Nekudot HaKesef by the Ba’al HaShach. Frankfurt an der Oder 1677
First Print.
Critique on the book, Turei Zahav – Yoreh De’ah, authored by Rabbi Shabtai Katz, the Ba’al HaShach.

The Shach clarifies in his introduction to his book, that he did not have any disagreements or hard feelings towards the author of Turei Zahav. Rather he held him in the highest esteem.

The Shach and Taz (Turei Zahav) were both published in 1646; in Cracow and Lublin respectively. A ‘Daf Acharon’ (endpage) is printed at the end of Taz Yoreh De’ah. This comprises critique penned by the Taz on the Shach, without mentioning him by name. In this book, the Shach authors a counter response and reveals that he is the one the Taz challenged (see leaf 80b).

Rabbi Yoel of Shebershin, grandson of the Taz, authored the Meginei Zahav, Prague, 1720. This included his responding critique on the Nekudot HaKessef’s rejoinders.
