Haggadah shel Pesach, with the Leil Shimurim commentary by Rabbi Yechiel Michel Halevi Epstein, the Aruch HaShulchan. Vilna, 1928. Copy of the Gaon Rabbi Shlomo Zalman Auerbach with his handwritten signature.
Published by the Rebbetzin Bereina, the author's daughter.

Rabbi Shlomo Zalman Auerbach:
One of the important Poskei Halacha in the last generation. Was born in Tamuz 1910 in the Sha'arei Chessed neighborhood, which was established a little earlier outside the walls of the Old City. Was named after his maternal grandfather, Shlomo Zalman Porush, who received the name since he was a Parush from the pleasures of this world, fasting before his immigration to Eretz Yisrael from Motza'ei Shabbat to the Kiddush of Leil Shabbat to be worthy of the country. His father was Rabbi Chaim Yehuda Leib Auerbach, the Rosh Yeshiva of the Sha'ar HaShamayim Yeshiva of Mekubalim and one of the prominent figures of the old Yishuv of Jerusalem.

Already as a child, his diligence and genius were considerable. His parents suffered from poverty and he used to study Shas and Poskim to satisfy his hunger. Toward the end of his life, he recalled: "In my youth, I did not know what it was to feel satiation. My physical weakness is the result of my childhood's malnutrition". Another time he told a disciple: "When all you have is a piece of onion – even an onion becomes sweet".
