Tanach Mikra’ot Gedolot. Basel, 1618-1619. Two Volumes. Magnificent, Most Impressive Set With Original, Parchment Binding.
This is a most prominent Tanach edition as it includes HaMesorah HaGedolah and HaMesorah HaKetanah in its entirety. In addition, the copying of HaMesorah has been proofread again. This edition is therefore most significant for researching HaMesorah.
This is known as the Basel Edition and includes addendums and corrections from earlier Mikra’ot Gedolot editions. With Rashi’s commentary on the entire Tanach; Ibn Ezra on Torah and part of Nach; Redak, Ralbag, Rabbi Sa’adya Gaon and other commentaries.
Tiberias, a Latin composition on HaMesorah authored by Johannes Buxtorf is appended to this edition. Johannes, a Christian scholar, was known to have provided guidance in preparing this edition.
This set comprises two thick volumes, with their original parchment binding, with embossing in the center of the covers. Light-colored paper with particularly wide margins. This copy is in mint condition!
Basel, 1618-1619.
Volume 1: [6], 441 leaves.
