First edition of a Sefer Yesod, fine, complete copy.
This is the first edition of the important book, Shut Rema of Fano. The book also introduces several chapters of the words of Rabbeinu Yitzchak Alfasi, which are the major source of the book. The author's name was not written explicitly on the title page; rather, מ"ע [Menachem Azarya] was written.
"תשובות ופירושי סוגיות ומשניות עמוקות ושמועות חמורות להלכה ולמעשה כפי צורך השואל שאליו נזקקין ברוך ה' יום יום".
Rabbi Menachem Azarya of Fano known as the Rema of Fano [1548-1620]:
One of the leading Poskim and Mekubalim of Italy. Already in his youth, in 1574, Maran Rabbi Yosef Karo appointed him to supervise the publishing of his book Kesef Mishneh. The Rema authored dozens of books on Halacha and Kabbalah, ten of them included in the book Assarah Ma'amarot.
He was influenced mainly by his Rav, Rabbi Ezra of Fano and Mantova [Mantua] and by Rabbi Moshe Cordovero, Rabbi Yisrael Saruk of Safed and Rabbi Yishma'el Chanina ben Mordechai of Valmontone.
