Pedigreed Copy of Rabbi Yitzchak Ardit and Rabbi Yaakov Poly, Rabbis of Izmir.
Commentary on Megillat Ruth (with the text) by Rabbeinu Moshe Alshich.
In his introduction to his book Torat Moshe, containing sermons on the Torah, the Mahram Alshich writes that his main focus was on studying the Iyun and his sermons on the Torah were written on Fridays when required.
In his introduction to Sefer Daniel, he explains who he wrote his commentary, noting that it was an adaptation of the sermons he had delivered.
On the title page, there are ownership signatures and notations of "Yaakov Poly" and Yitzchak Ardit from the library of his in-law the philanthropist Rabbi Chaim Moshe Ardit. On leaf 13a there is a foreign handwritten comment.
Rabbi Yaakov Poly: established a printing house in Izmir with his friend Rabbi Avraham Pontremoli, the son of Petach Hadvir and many of the books by the rabbis of Izmir were published by them.
Rabbi Yitzchak Ardit (ca. 1759-1812): one of the rabbis of Izmir, author of the book Yekar HaErech. Was born in Izmir to Rabbi Shlomo Ardit, the brother of Rabbi Raphael Ardit. The Chida corresponded with him on Divrei Torah and introduced his Torah in some of his books. He also sent him some of his books, with his personal dedication to him. On his book Shem Hagedolim, he wrote the following dedication: ”לחמיד רצוף אהבה וחיבה החכם השלם והכולל חתנא דבי נשיאה ורב חסד כמה"ר יצחק ארדיט נר"ו. הרי זה מקטני המנ'ה ומדת קונו יש בו בהגיע תו'ר נאמר בו ריח נחוח. זאת היתה לי תזל כטל אמרתי, אני הצעיר חיד"א ס"ט.” He immigrated to Eretz Yisrael yet a short while later, returned to Izmir where he passed away.
