Silver Kiddush Cup. France, the First Half of the 19th Century
Rare and special silver Kiddush cup, handmade quality silversmithing, with illustrations of animals and Hebrew inscriptions.
The center of the cup is covered with fine hammer-work and engravings of plant motifs. Inside four round medallions, the silversmith engraved illustrations of animals with the Hebrew inscriptions: 'רץ כצבי', 'גבור כארי', 'עז כנמר', 'קל כנשר' (strong as a leopard, swift as an eagle, fleet as a gazelle, brave as a lion).
On the upper edge of the cup, there are two hallmarks: a general French one and of the silversmith.
