Unique and Rare Silver Etrog Box, Inlaid with Citrine and Topaz Gemstones. Moshe Zabari, New York 1970
Important modern Judaica item.
Silver Etrog box made by the artist Moshe Zabari when he was artist-in-residence at the Jewish Museum of New York. Zabari was invited to the Jewish Museum in 1961, several years after graduating from the Bezalel Academy (1955-1958).
In the center of the Etrog box, handmade silver-sawing technique with which Zabari created the unique Hebrew letters forming the verse Pri Etz Hadar. The upper part of the box is extraordinary; Zabari created three rounded corners tilting upward with a circle between them with a cluster of holes of varied sizes enabling a peek into the box. Between the holes, Zabari incorporated Citrine and Topaz gemstones inlaid in small silver crowns.
An interesting and unique design made by Zabari when he worked at the Tobe Pascher Workshop for Modern Jewish Art in New York in ca. 1970.
