מוזיאון רוקפלר, המוזיאון נפתח לקהל הרחב ב-13 בינואר 193811ונקרא בשם המוזיאון הארכאולוגי של פלשתינה – א"י Palestine Archaeological Museum. עם הקמתו של המוזיאון ומעבר מחלקת העתיקות המנדטורית אליו, היה זה המוסד היחיד מבין מוסדות הממשל שהיו בידיו בניין ראוי לשמו ותקציב נדיב לשם פעילות יום-יומית.
