Playing the Checkers, 19th century orientalist school, signed "Cala de Moya"
Oil on canvas, framed measurements: 71 x 59, canvas measurements: 51 x 41 cm. According to models by José Cala de Moya, a native painter from Jerez de la Frontera, a disciple of the School of Seville and later of the Higher School of Madrid. From 1874 on, he attended the Open Exhibition in the old building with many of his works. Martinez silverware; in the same year he was awarded for a drawing of his in the contest opened by the newspaper La Illustration. At the National Exhibition of 1876 he presented two types of bullfighters, two landscapes of Torrelodones and a composition painting The Return to the Home. the salon of 1880 exhibited his canvas depicting Camilo Desmoulins haranguing the people in the royal palace.
