Dimensions: 33 x 27 cm Saint Jerome Penitent is characterized by its dramatic and symbolic treatment of the figure of the saint. Saint Jerome, one of the Fathers of the Church, is represented in his ascetic retreat, accompanied by traditional symbols such as the skull, the lion and the book. The work shows a solemn composition, where the light reinforces the spirituality of the moment, in line with the devotional works of the 16th century, influenced by mysticism and the religious reform of the time.
