Sicha by the Beis Avraham Handwritten by His Son Rabbi Shlomo David Yehoshua of Slonim
Manuscript handwritten by the Admor Rabbi Shlomo David Yehoshua Weinberg of Slonim - written in his youth, when he was 17, a Sicha of the Beis Avraham of Slonim delivered in Hanukkah 1929 - Baranovich
This Shmus was published for the first time in the lifetime of the Beis Avraham in Kuntres Sichot Kodesh shel Admor Mohara Shlita, a mimeograph edition printed in 1931 by Rabbi Shemaya Luria. Printed at the end of the Kuntres were the names of the writers who heard the Sicha: כל מאמרי חנוכה תר"ץ... הב' המופלג, פרי הלולים, מ' שלומקע שיחי' באדמו"ר שליט"א". It was then re-copied in the book KOvetz Sichot Kodesh, p. 332. See enclosed material.
The content of this manuscript was also printed in the book Beit Avraham (Jerusalem, 1958) by his leading disciple the Netivos Shalom, in Mamarei Hanukkah, p. 45.
On this leaf, the Shmus is written as it was originally said, in Yiddish, as "לחם חם ביום הלקחו".
The Admor Rabbi Shlomo David Yehoshua Weinberg of Slonim, the Yunger Rebbe (1913-1944), the only son and successor of the Beis Avraham. His father, the Beis Avraham, passed away suddenly at the age of 49 in Iyar 1933, after returning from a visit to the Holy Land. His son, Rabbi Shlomo David Yehoshua, was then a youth of twenty and never thought of succeeding his father. However, after receiving sternly worded letters from the leaders of Slonim in the Holy Land, including Rabbi Moshe KLiers Av Beis Din of Tiberius, Rabbi Mordechai Chaim Slonim and the Birkas Avraham, pleading with him to accept the leadership despite his young age, he acceded. The Birkas Avraham (who was then one of the leaders of the community of Tiberius) was sent to Baranovich to arrange the succession of the Admorut.
In Sivan 1933, Rabbi Shlomo David Yehoshua was crowned the Admor of Slonim. In Adar 1934, he married the Rebbetzin Sima, the daughter of the Admor of Alexander author of the Akeidas Yitzchak. For two years, the new Admor of Slonim lived in Alexander and then returned to Baranovich, where he led the community until he was murdered by the Nazis. His devoted Chasisdim managed to obtain a certificate for him, receiving a short letter from him in 1941, in which he wrote: "אפשר טעיתי מה שנשארתי בפה, אבל מה אעשה כי טפלי תליי בי, וד"ל". His writings and remnants of his Divrei Torah were compiled in the book Zikaron Kadosh by his friend and Chavruta, the Admor the Netivos Shalom of Slonim.
