Mauton - Naples, Italy by Sea (Napoli da Mare)
This truly exquisite gouache painting depicts a scene in Naples or its surrounding environs. The painting was completed by M. Mauton, a local artist in the early 1800s. He created spectactacular paintings that showed Vesuvius erupting and local landscapes. Mauton's signature can be found below the painting.
Provenance: From the collection of the artist Francina Schot (1816-1894)
