Sha'ar HaYichudim. Lemberg, 1855. Copy with the Signature of Rabbi Akiva Yosef Schlesinger
Sha'ar HaYichudim. Kabalistic work by Rabbi Chaim Vital. Lemberg, 1855.
[2], 43, 45-58 leaves, 23 cm. Leaf 32 features an illustration of an amulet against an epidemic from the Arizal on the entire page; many kabalistic sketches in the book.
Owner signature on title page: עקיבא יוסף שלזינגר (1837-1922). He was born in Pressburg. His father was a disciple of the Chatam Sofer and he studied by the Kitav Sofer and Maharam Schick. He was the son-in-law of Rabbi Hillel Lichtenstein, and was a vigorous opponent of the Reform. In 1880, he immigrated to Eretz Yisrael and worked to 'redeem land' by purchasing land from non-Jews. Some members of the yishuv hayshan did not agree with his philosophies, and he and his books were banned. Additional title page signature: שלמה זלמן שלעזינגער, and another one and a few glosses.
Magnificent, new leather binding. Very light blemish to the title page, without loss. Worming holes in solitary leaves. Overall very fine condition.
