General Public Fast Day. For the Suffering of our Brethren of the Jewish People...in Germany. March 1933. The Nazi Party's Rise to Power
A poster calling for a general public fast day after the news about the Nazi party's rise to power and its intentions to annihilate European Jewry reached Israel.
"The widespread suffering of our brethren the Jewish people who are in great sorrow in Russia and in other countries such as Germany and others". Solomon printing press. The poster mainly refers to the great suffering and oppression suffered by Russian Jewry, but also mentions Germany as an addendum to "other countries". At this stage of events, most of the bad reports arriving in Israel were connected to Russian Jewry.
The poster is signed by dozens of Rabbis, among them: Rabbi Isser Zalman Meltzer, Rabbi Moshe Mordechai Epstein, Rabbi Avraham Yitzchak HaCohen Kook, Rabbi Zvi Pesach Frank and others.
Dimensions: 50x70 cm.
